You can make great Kaffe Fassett quilts with traditional fabrics that you can find at Hidden Quilts. Enjoy Terry's show of 9 Kaffe Fassett quilts and a discussion of fabric choices. What to bring? First Semester Beginning Quilting

We will be using Eleanor Burn's book It's Elementary which is very easy to understand with lots of pictures to follow. Each student needs to make an appointment with me ahead of class time to pick out his or her fabric for the project. If you want to use some of your own fabric please bring it along to be checked. In the past, I have allowed students to use whatever fabric they wish but this just causes too many problems. From now on, all fabric must be good quality 100% cotton quilting fabric or I will not let you use it in your project. You will learn to cut and press correctly and practice your scant 14" seam allowance before moving on to constructing the (5) 12 1/2" blocks into a 42 x 42" wall hanging or a long runner.
Six 4-Hour Sessions
Monday, October 20th, 27th, November 3rd, 10th, 17th, & 24th- 1:00 to 5:00pm
With Carol, purchase of book required- Cost is $100.00
(Includes Large Zippered Project Bag & 2 Fat Quarters)

Scrap Quilts Trunk Show

We all have a bag or box (or several of each) of scraps. Even though those scrap quilts look "Oh So Beautiful" they also look quite intimidating. Have a look at a dozen or more quilts and join in the discussion of the various techniques Terry uses to organize, cut and sew her scrap quilts. What to bring? Bring any scrap quilt books or patterns that you have been considering. You might leave with a plan of attack that will get you on the road to a beautiful scrap quilt of your own.

Pieced Backs Trunk Show

So the top is done and you are ready to send your quilt off to the quilter. What do you use for the back? There are two philosophies on that. 1. Buy the 108" fabric for the back and be done with it. I like this plan because it's painless and lets you move on to your next project quickly. 2. Piece your own quilt back from material that you already have. I tend to use this plan more often for several reasons. I can save my money for the fabric I want to put on front of a quilt. I can use up the scraps so I have less in my sewing room to sort and store, and I can use my ingenuity to put together a back that complements and enhances the quilt. You will get a handout of some of the layouts I've tried-what has worked and what hasn't. What to bring? Bring any completed quilt top and we'll brainstorm ways to make a complementary pieced back.
One 1-Hour Session
Tuesday, October 28th- 6:30 to 7:30pm
With Terry Hanson- Cost is $12.50
